Alléno Paris at the Pavillon Ledoyen | Paris |

An exceptional setting for an extraordinary gastronomic experience.

In the heart of the Champs-Elysées gardens, it is in the Byzance lounge of the Pavillon Ledoyen, an iconic and gastronomic institution in Paris since 1792, that Chef Yannick Alléno has opened his gourmet restaurant “Alléno Paris”. Awarded three stars in the 2021 Michelin Guide just seven months after its opening, “Alléno Paris” offers a unique experience where all the senses are called upon.

Art and design hold an important place in the life of Yannick Alléno.

For a total sensory experience, Yannick Alléno creates a universe for each of his restaurants. He called upon Olivier Masmonteil to decorate the ceiling of the Pavillon Ledoyen with a monumental fresco, for L’Abysse, his sushi counter, he asked Tadashi Kawamata, through his renowned gallery friend Kamel Mennour, to create an installation composed of thousands of chopsticks, and for Alléno Paris, Kostia was entrusted with the task of creating a unique installation…

This establishment echoes the cuisine of Yannick Alléno, a daring multi-starred chef who showcases chic and modern cuisine in which each dish is constructed, structured, and expertly researched.

 

After the lockdown was lifted in May 2020, Chef Yannick Alléno and his wife Laurence Bonnel, founder of the Galerie SCÈNE OUVERTE, asked artist Kostia to create a decorative installation that would allow for social distancing in their gourmet restaurant. Yannick Alléno wanted an artwork that would not isolate diners from the atmosphere of the restaurant but still provide a certain “social discretion”.

Kostia’s proposal is elegant and delicate, providing a “seen without being seen” effect that allows the beauty of the room to be appreciated at a glance, playing with the grandiose and the intimate. He imagines voile frames suspended on movable structures in brushed brass, appearing to float in the room.

To echo the gardens visible through the countless windows, Kostia draws inspiration from the theme of the four seasons present in the decor created by Louis-Jacques Galland, the original designer of this light-filled salon, classified as a historic monument.

Kostia creates contemporary floral designs and asks the Montex workshops to translate them into embroideries. Aska Yamashita, artistic director of the Montex workshops, does an extraordinary job of understanding and transposing the work. She combines techniques that, when combined, explode the drawing into a fireworks display of colors and materials. The delicacy of the birds and insects that mingle near the branches creates a magical ensemble.

This installation echoes Yannick Alléno’s cuisine, a daring multi-starred Chef who showcases a chic and modern cuisine in which each dish is constructed, structured, and meticulously researched with particular attention paid to sauces!
