How did Adèle Collections come to light?

Passionate about colors, architecture and interior decoration, Lucien Tourtoulou armed with a wealth of professional experience, embarked on a journey of research and creations that led him to work alongside renowned interior design firms on numerous prestigious projects worldwide. His love for original materials, a passion for connecting with people, and a desire for a more human-centered decorative offering, coupled with traditional craftsmanship, led him to establish Adèle Collections in 2017.

In 2022, Dominika Roslon and Gabrielle de Cocatrix joined the team. Together, they offer decorative coverings and natural textiles to interior architects, designers, and lovers of beautiful materials.

Towards Refined Simplicity

Combining beauty with nature is the guiding principle of Adèle Collections. Each material they offer has a story and arises from encounters with artisans and communities with unique skills. Adèle Collections enjoys finding the architectural applications of these materials, often repurposing their primary use to infuse interiors with a touch of elsewhere. Here are just a few of the most remarkable ones:

Mutuba Bark
Traditionally used in East Africa for making garments during main local festivities, Mutuba bark, with both its deep and gentle ochre-red color, adds an elegant and vibrant touch to walls, closet doors, or furniture pieces.

Maya Fiber
These large leaves are made from fiber extracted from mulberry tree bark in Central America. Traditionally used for crafting decorative objects or ceremonial masks, the fibers are cleaned, filtered, and mixed on large screens to create Maya fiber sheets after a drying and polishing process with a wooden roller. Adèle Collections offers decorative effects with these dyed and shellacked fibers.

Cana flecha
Cana flecha, a fiber from a plant cultivated in Latin America, is handwoven using traditional artisanal methods. Originally used for making hats or fashion accessories, Adèle Collections employs these woven materials, assembled and sewn, to create custom panels that can be stretched or glued onto frames or panels. The geometric patterns are only limited by the craftsmanship and imagination of the artisans.

“COMBINING BEAUTY WITH NATURE IS THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE OF ADÈLE COLLECTIONS. EACH MATERIAL OFFERED HAS ITS OWN STORY
AND ARISES FROM ENCOUNTERS WITH ARTISANS, AND COMMUNITIES
WITH UNIQUE EXPERTISE.”

Marquetry by Hermine Torikian

Adèle Collections’ Materials

“Irregularities, shade variations, unusual formats, handmade weaves, imperfections – for us, these are hallmarks of quality that surpass industrial standards through their uniqueness. Encouraging craftsmanship, respecting people, their traditions and cultures means choosing natural materials and handmade objects to create a harmonious atmosphere and interior, designed to enhance our quality of life.”

Originating from France, Europe, Japan, South America or the African continent, artisans offer us a new concept of decorative coverings through their history and expertise.

Adèle Collections offers plant fibers, a collection of braided wood with patterns created in-house, leathers, as well as natural coatings containing inlays of mica, cork, or hemp that create a natural ambiance and a luxurious finish through simplicity and sobriety.

On the textile side, nettle fibers, hemp and jute canvases, and a range of rain cotton fabrics complete the natural ambiance of interiors while adding character to them.

In 2021, Adèle Collections initiated a series of collaborations with artist-artisans who share the same values and have an interest in natural materials.

The combination of their technical expertise and creativity results in unique creations that push projects even further. Everything starts with a meeting, bonds are formed, and beautiful collaborations ensue.

Hermine Torikian works with the raw materials from Adèle Collections. A true master of leather marquetry, which she can combine with wood, she creates her patterns but can also produce marquetry based on a given design. This allows her to create custom decorative panels, dress doors, furniture, or decorative objects.

Agnès Kotarba creates panels and furniture coverings from plant fibers and mineral materials. Each piece is a world that she kneads, spreads, and lets dry in silence. Their color and texture emerge randomly from her discoveries in nature, and their form from her gesture.

Amélie Chapleau defines herself as a botanical lace maker. She seeks to reconnect the sacred ties that bind humans to nature by crafting this unique material, botanical lace made from plant fibers and tree leaves. Her delicate creations can be adapted into collages, murals, decorative friezes or on objects.

Regular exhibitions are organised at the showroom to showcase the works of these artists-artisans, a special moment to initiate meetings and exchange ideas with decoration professionals

WE COLLABORATE WITH ARTISTS-ART CRAFTSMEN FOR UNIQUE PROJECTS.

From material to object…

Adèle Collections provides raw materials to creators, designers and other artisans to allow them to take hold of them and incorporate them into their creations.

For instance, Sophie Vaidie has embraced Maya fiber to create a lampshade for her elegantly handcrafted lamps. The opalescence of Maya fiber can be likened to alabaster and offers beautiful possibilities. It is perfect for diffusing warm light and creating a cozy atmosphere.

Adèle Collections supports architects throughout their projects,
from selecting materials to installing them artfully.

Having cultivated a network of expertise in natural materials, Adèle Collections can also source specific materials upon request ensuring that the architect’s envisioned project aligns closely with the concept. Adèle Collections collaborates with renowned architects who trust them for projects in France and abroad.
